Shawn Lent moves this world as a manager, educator, and social practice artist, with experience ranging from a field in Bosnia to a children’s hospital in revolutionary Egypt. With more than 30 years of experience teaching dance, Shawn currently serves as Manager of Training Programs at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Previously, she spent nearly a decade with Chicago Dancemakers Forum as Programs and Communications Director. Previous roles include writer and alliance-building lead for the arts think tank Createquity, Arts Integration Program Specialist at Columbia College Chicago, and EducationUSA Advising Coordinator for Egypt (a U.S. Department of State program). A U.S. Fulbright Scholar and United Nations Alliance of Civilizations International Fellow, Shawn’s honors also include serving as the 2014 Commencement Speaker for Millikin University and the 2025 Keynote Speaker for the Illinois Dance Education Organization’s statewide conference.
