4630 N. Francisco Ave, Chicago IL 60625 | Beginners Welcome | Nonprofit studio since 1954

LBP School of Dance offers tap dance classes for kids and teens of all levels in Chicago's Ravenswood Manor neighborhood. From Basic 1 Tap for brand-new dancers to advanced, fast-footed Perfection classes, LBP has a class to match every dancer. As a nonprofit studio on Chicago's North Side, we serve families across Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, Albany Park, and Andersonville in a welcoming, encouraging environment where every dancer is challenged and supported.
Tap is one of the most joyful, rhythmic forms of dance — part movement, part music. Our program builds percussive technique from the ground up: clean shuffles, flaps, and time steps first, then speed, syncopation, and personal style. Whether you're enrolling a brand-new beginner, a competitive teen, or yourself as an adult dancer, there's a place for you on the floor.
TAP CLASSES | CHICAGO
Rhythm, Sound & Precision
Tap dance is about making music with your feet. At LBP, students learn to create clean, percussive sounds with their tap shoes through rhythm and movement — developing timing, coordination, and control while working through rhythmic steps, combinations, and energetic exercises set to a range of music. Classes are welcoming and beginner-friendly, with small class sizes and experienced instructors at every level. No experience necessary to start.

WHAT TO WEAR
Tap Dress Code at LBP School of Dance
All students should arrive dressed and ready to move. Hair must be secured off of the face for every class
Clothing: Comfortable, movement-friendly clothing that doesn't obscure the visible lines of the body. Hair pulled securely off of the face in a ponytail or bun
Shoes: Tap shoes are required for class. Not sure which pair is right for your dancer's level? Ask us and we will help to point you in the right direction.

More Ways to Move at LBP School of Dance
LBP School of Dance has been a nonprofit dance studio in Chicago's Ravenswood Manor since 1954, built on a simple belief: everyone can dance. We welcome dancers of every age, level, background, and body — from age 3 to 93 — into a warm, supportive community where each student is both challenged and celebrated.
Tap is just one of the many disciplines we teach. Dancers are encouraged to explore and cross-train across styles, and many take tap alongside ballet, jazz, hip hop, acro, lyrical or contemporary to grow into more complete, versatile movers. View our full schedule.
